About Rajeev Alunkal

Noted Malayalam Lyricist and Poet. He is a very busy Lyricist in Malayalam Cinema Industry. As a lyricist he has co-operated with all leading music directors.

Rajeev Alunkal is the Chairman of the Kumaranashan Smaraka Samithy, controlled by Govt. of Kerala.

Rajeev Alunkal wrote a song for album "One Love" directed by music legends A R Rahman and one more song for Malayalam Film "Akasha Gopuram" directed by Titanic Fame John Altman. These opportunities Rajeev Alunkal achieved international fame

His songs are predominantly on romanitic and philosphical themes. His noted lines include 'Thinkal Nilavil' (Hariharanpilla happiyanu), I Love You December (Vettam), Priyathame Shakunthale (Kanaka Simhasanam), Chembavavallikalil (Arabeeyum Ottakavum P Madhavan Nayarum) Iniyum Kothiyode (Bharya Onnu Makkal Moonu), Oru Kinginikkattu (Mallusingh), Kakka malayaile (Mallusingh), Nilave.. Nilave.. (Chattakkari), Arthunkale Palliyil (Romans), Mele Cheolde (Angry Babies), Karingalli Kuyile (She Taxi), Ishtamanennadhyam (Album Ishatamanu), Melle Nee Mayave (Happy Wedding) etc.

Rajeev Alunkal[1] bagged life time acheivement award of Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy 2013. Best Lyricist award of the Kerala State during 2005. He was blessed with Film Critics Award - two times for best Lyricist.

Rajeev Alunkal written Title Song for very popular TV serials - Parichatham, Hello Kuttichathan, Harichandanam, Vrindavanam, Nandanam, Pattusari, Sarayu, Pokuveyil, For the People (Lyrics and Music) etc.

He has participated in many cultural events as an orator in India and abroad.

During the canonisation ceremony of Mother Theresa at the Vatican, Pope Francis released the poetry written by Rajeev Alunkal and the Indian Pop singer Usha Uthup rendered her voice for the same. This poem has also been translated in other languages including English, Bengali, Albanian, Latin and Tamil. This got a world wide attention too.

In 2016, during the south asian poet's meet at Singapore, Rajeev Alunkal presented a good speech on the culture and importance of poems in the Malayalam literature.

Fluency and Elegany of his speech in Malayalam is appreciated by eminent personalities. Writing his means for life at age of 20 in 1993.

Born in 1973 August 17  in star ‘Uttrittathi’ in a Nair family at Kadakkarappally Village in the Cherthala Taluk , Alleppey District.

Father- Kandanatt S.Madhavan Nair , Mother - Karuvally R.Indira.

First poem was published in 1987 in the age of 14 on N.S.S’s Service Weekly. That poem has won Mannam Trophy.

Studied at U.P.G. school , Kadakkarappally, H.S.Kandamangalam, N.S.S.H.S.Panavally and Sobha Industrial Training Institute

Studied Sanskrit for 10 years under the guidence of Guru Siromani Raghava Panicker at Vayalar.

Become a professional Lyricist in 1994 in Drama through Cherthala Shylaja Theatres. On 2003  started film song writing  by doing all songs for the famous Mohanlal movie ‘Hariharan Pilla Happiyanu’.

Written 1000 songs for 200 professional dramas, 2000 songs for more than 200 Audio Albums. Several Title songs for TV Serials and more than 250 songs for 100 Malayalam movies.

Considering the achievements as Lyricist for the last 20 years in he is most leading and uncomparable among the lyricist of young generation.
